I wonder just how many haul outs Scaldis has encountered? Too many to count! Endless hours of grinding, chipping, welding, sanding and painting. I used to joke about how many years this all took off our lives for inhaling and working around all the toxic paints and sanding dust?
Then there were the arguments on what color to paint her at each haul out and what products to use. On serious hull outs we had to scan the hull for thin spots and weld plates when needed. And there were times when the chipping on the inside of the bilges would produce a hole. It was a total labor of love!
At each haul out all types of people and friends would show up to help, give advice, marvel at her beauty, bring food or just some moral support. At the haul out above we had Ivor Weston, Kim Weston, Brian Riddell, Cole Weston, Matt Weston, Roslyn Riddell, Nikki Riddell. Moral support and food was catered by Jim and Babette Edinger, Gina and Zach Weston and Ed Riddell. The best part of haul outs was putting her back in the water and sailing home with smiles and joy in our hearts! Thank you all who participated in all these haul outs! Your help kept Scaldis sailing the seas!
